Halibut and Iron
Halibut has a nice bit of iron. In a one hundred gram serving (which is about 3 1/2 ounces), the halibut will provide about six percent of the daily iron required for a young woman. Furthermore, the form of iron in halibut (heme iron) is readily absorbed by your body. Heme iron is absorbed on the order of two to three times more than non-heme iron sources. (Though resources on this website will help you absorb more iron from plant foods.) The muscle meat provided by halibut may also help you absorb more iron in your plant-based foods since muscle meat tends to act as an enhancer to iron absorption.
